Publication in Veterinary Dermatology: L-Mesitran Soft in the effective treatment of ear infections in dogs.
In October 2015 we already announced a study regarding the treatment of ear infections in dogs with L-Mesitran Soft, done by Dr. Emi Maruhashi at the University of Lisbon Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Portugal. This article, Efficacy of medical grade honey in canine otitis, has recently been published in the Veterinary Dermatology.
Dr. Emi Maruhashi explored the efficacy of medical grade honey in orderto find out whether it would be an effective alternative to conventional treatments. Fifteen client-owned dogs with confirmed diagnosis of infectious ear infections were treated with only 1ml L-Mesitran Soft daily (per ear).
The medical grade honey showed rapid clinical progress. Between 7 to 14 days 70% of the dogs were cured and over 90% was cured within 21 days. Even with resistant bacterial strains, honey shows to be effective.
The study shows the potential of medical grade honey as an alternative to conventional treatments. It relieves rapidly clinical signs and speeds up the healing process. Meanwhile it successfully eliminates infection, including those caused by antibiotic resistant bacteria.
